TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - Warner University women's basketball team picked up their third win of the season on Thursday night. In their third straight road game, the Lady Royals defeated Florida College 73-56 to sweep the season series from the Falcons and improve their record to 3-2 overall in the 2014-15 season.
Baylie Bridges got the Lady Royals out to a hot start connecting on her first five shots, three coming from behind the arc. Bridges had 14 points in the first 10 minutes of the half and the lady Royals led 24-18 with 9:55 left before halftime.
As a team the Lady Royals made eight shots from behind the arc in the first half and had eight players score points.
Marie Fleurival and
Leilani Tuani-Fifita both had four assists as they worked the ball around the perimeter to the Lady Royals' shooters. At the half, Warner led Florida College 43-31.
The Lady Royals came out of the break on a tear scoring the first six points of the half forcing a Falcons timeout at the 17:36 mark. The Falcons finally got on the board at the 16:35 mark but the route was on as the Lady Royals opened the half on a 21-7 run down to the 8:50 mark and led 64-38.
Nine player recorded points in the game led by Bridges who finished the night with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting.
I'munique Green came off the bench and scored 13 points in 17 minutes of action.
The Lady Royals had 12 players grab at least one rebound in the game as they dominated the boards 42-35. Green along with
Eliana Albert and
Leilani Tuani-Fifita all had seven rebounds each to lead the team. Leilani-Fifita and
Marie Fleurival had two blocked shots each as well.
Next Wednesday, Nov. 19, the Lady Royals will play their second exhibition game of the season this time in Winter Park, Fla. against Rollins College. The Lady Royals and Tars will tip-off at 7 p.m.
