THOMASVILLE, Ga. – In their second Sun Conference road trip of the season, Warner University women's basketball team lost to Thomas University (Ga.) on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Lady Royals to 5-7 in the 2014-15 season and 1-2 in league play. The Night Hawks improve to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in The Sun.
It was a tough offensive day for the Lady Royals all the way around against the Night Hawks. The Lady Royals trailed 28-19 at the break and shot 25% from the field in the first half.
In the second half the Lady Royals' average jumped to 34.5% from the field but they could not convert from behind the arc, going 0-for-13 in the game.
The Night Hawks never trailed and cruised to the 60-45 victory over the Lady Royals.
Marie Fleurival led the Lady Royals' offense with nine points in the game. She also finished tied for a game-high with 12 rebounds.
Leilani Tuani-Fifita followed with seven rebounds to go along with her eight points.
Defense was a bright spot for the Lady Royals in the game as the forced 23 Night Hawks' turnovers and had 15 steals.
Mariah Williams had a career-high seven steals to lead the way.
Next week the Lady Royals return home for a midweek conference tilt with Florida Memorial University. The Lions and Lady Royals will tip-off at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, in the Turner Athletic Center.
