LAKE WALES, Fla. – Warner University men's soccer team scored two goals in the first half and held on for a 2-1 victory over Ave Maria University on senior day. The win improves the Royals' record to 3-10-1 on the year and 2-6 in The Sun Conference. The Gyrenes fall to 1-13 and 0-9 in league play following the loss.
At halftime, the Royals honored the careers of four student-athletes.

Brian Martin,
Gianluca Cuomo and
Jonathan Freiria were all honored for their commitment and contributions to the men's soccer program.
The first half was scoreless for the first 41 minutes until the Royals scored first in the 42 minutes.
Bernardo Bergamin found
Mauricio Delgado who scored to put Warner ahead 1-0. Less than three minutes later,
Brian Martin converted a penalty kick after Bergamin was fouled in the box.
The Royals outshot the Gyrenes 9-3 in the first half and carried a 2-0 lead into halftime.
The Gyrenes came out in the second half and cut the Royals' lead in half less than five minutes in. Fabrizio Bucco scored the first goal of the game for Ave Maria.
Overall in the second half, the Gyrenes edged out the Royals 9-8 shooting the ball. Michael Rios and the rest of the Warner backline however, played shutout soccer the final 40 minutes of the game to preserve the 2-1 victory.
David Bartalos got the start in goal for the Royals and made two saves in the first half. Rios came off the bench in the second half and made three saves.
Delgado and Bergamin both came off the bench in the game and led the Royals with three shots each in the game.
Next week the Royals close out the 2015 season with a midweek rivalry match against Webber International University. The Sun Conference finale comes on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 28, at 3:30 p.m. The Royals won earlier this year 1-0 on a goal by
Jonathan Freiria.
