Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla.- The season has not gone as planned for the men's soccer team in 2016 but on Saturday afternoon they were able to best the Ave Maria Gyrenes 4-1 for their first victory of the season. The first goal of the game came in the 21st minute off the foot of
Brian Martin to give the Royals a 1-0 lead in the first half. Just six minutes later in the 27th minute, the Gyrenes came away with a goal of their own and tied the match at 1 apiece. The score would stay that way into halftime.
The second half was all Royals however.
Austin Shaner opened the Royals scoring in the second half with a goal in the 51st minute to give Warner the lead. Then in the 79th minute,
Brian Martin was able to find the back of the net once again for his second goal of the match, this time assisted by
Daniel Rodriguez. Just to be on the safe side, the Royals extended their lead even further in the 88th minute with a goal from
Devyn Hencil who was assisted by
Renzo Motauiti.
In the end the Royals came away with a 4-1 victory behind two goals from
Brian Martin. The Royals improve to 1-15 (1-7) on the season. Men's soccer will have their senior night at home Tuesday November 1 at 7 pm versus Webber International.
