Royals Lose To Bobcats

WINTER HAVEN, Fla.- The Royals tennis team took on Sun Conference opponent St. Thomas Bobcats on Saturday in Winter Haven. The women had a tough day as they were not able to defeat the Bobcats in any match throughout the competition. Caitlyn Ryan took her opponent into a tiebreaker, but was unable to prevail. The men faired a little better than the women, but still came up a bit short and lost 4-5. St. Thomas took the first two doubles matches in close sets but the duo of Francisco Perafan and Renan Gambim were able to salvage a win, 8-3, in the #3 doubles position. The Royals looked good in the singles competiton in the top three positions as Perafan, Rafael Coutinho, and Martynas Lukosiunas all won their singles matches. However, the Bobcats were able to come back and win the final three singles matches to come away with the 5-4 team win over the Royals. The men play Davenport Monday at 6 pm in Lake Nona and the women will be back in action March 1 at Webber.
