LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Royals headed down south this afternoon to play the Ave Maria University Gyrenes and escape with a thrilling 2-1 in OT. This is the men's 2
nd win in a row and brings their overall record to 10-3 and their conference record to 4-2. The team is currently ranked 4
th in the Sun Conference.

Things started slow for the Royals in the first half as the offense didn't look in sync out the gate. But things came together for the team in the 37
th minute when #7
Daniel Rodriguez was able to find the back of the net for the Royals and give his team a 1-0 lead.

The two teams battled back and forth the rest of the half and the Royals were able to walk into half time with a 1-0 lead.

The Royals defense stood strong in the 2
nd half, keeping the Gyrenes off their side of the pitch; however, in the 87
th minute the Gyrenes were able to weave through the Royals defense and were able to the tie the game up with a goal of their own.

Regular time would come to an end with the game tied at 1-1.

Despite the late heroics by the Gyrenes in regular time, the Royals sought to take care of business early in overtime.

Matheus Santiago was able to knock in a goal and give the Royals the Golden Goal victory in overtime.

This was a big win for Warner, on the road against a tough conference opponent, but the Royals were up for the challenge and have given themselves a great chance to make the playoffs this year with this win!
