Warner Men’s Soccer – Royals And Pilots Match Comes Down To Last Minute Goal

Kissimmee, Fla. – Last night, on one of the coldest and windiest nights of 2018, the Warner Royals battled the Bethel College Pilots and after nearly two hours of tough defensive play from both sides the Pilots were able to cash in a goal in the 89th minute and take a 1-0 edge over the Royals with 30 seconds left to play.

This was the Royals 2nd match in the 2018 NCCAA National Championships.

The match started around 7:30 PM and the temperature at the start of the match was near 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Both teams came out ready on defense as the first half of the match only had 5 total shots; Warner (2) Bethel (3).

The Pilots kept pressure on the Royals side of the pitch during the 2nd half as they were able to get off 4 more shots in the half and were able to net a last minute goal to take the lead.

Both sides played a physical game as there were 3 yellow cards, Warner (1) Bethel (2) and 17 fouls in the match, Warner (8) Bethel (9).

The Royals fought hard the entire contest but were never able to get the offensive rhythm they needed going to get a good look at the net.

With this loss the Royals record falls to 12-7-1. With the 12 wins the Royals have yet again set a new single season mark for most wins in a season. The Royals were thrilling to watch all year and had one of the best seasons in Warner's Men's Soccer history.
