Lady Royals Season Ends With Senior Day Loss To Johnson & Wales

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The lady Royals celebrated their senior day. The team and Warner athletics department would like to extend a thank you to the following seniors; Desirelle Salas, Cierra Wilson, Charisa Broadway, I'munique Green, Denae James, Sara Poehlman, Kashari James, Jasmine Celestine and Tianna Thomas.

The Royals were challenged being down by 7 early in the first quarter. Sara Poehlman, Charisa Broadway and Cierra Wilson ate away at the lead and started the Royals on a run that found them up by 3 following the 1st quarter, 18-15. Neither team held more than a 5 point lead up until 4 minutes remaining in the half when Sara Poehlman drained a 3-pointer and gave the Royals a 31-25 lead. A couple of shots by the Wildcats would cut the lead and the game would go into halftime with the Royals leading 31-30.

The 3rd quarter was a back and forth change of the lead until the Wildcats went up 50-45. A few free-throws later, the Royals lowered the lead to a Wildcats 50-49 at the end of the 3rd. The 4th quarter was a Wildcat Frenzy as it seemed they did not miss a shot extending their lead to a 70-57 final score.

The lady Royals celebrated their senior day. The team and Warner athletics department would like to extend a thank you to the following seniors; Desirelle Salas, Cierra Wilson, Charisa Broadway, I'munique Green, Denae James, Sara Poehlman, Kashari James, Jasmine Celestine and Tianna Thomas.

1st year head coach, Joe Sanchez said "I'm proud of these girls and the way they played despite the record. Any night could have been their night and they gave their all. I'm excited to release these seniors and see what amazing young women they will become."
