BABSON PARK, Fla. – Royals tennis picks up conference wins against rivals Webber International. Both the men and the women prevailed 7-2 over the Warriors.
The lady Royals took 1 and 3 in doubles then 1-4 and 6 in singles play.
Andrea Silva and
Paula Ordonez started things off taking down John and Fosdick in #1 doubles 9-8 (7-3). Silva went on to defeat John in #1 singles 6-4, 3-6 and 6-3. Ordonez took on Niehoff in #2 singles and won 2-6, 6-4 then 6-2.
Hanna Zahn and
Veronica Kamoi took an unfortunate loss to Niehoff and Koenig 4-8 in doubles but then won both of their singles respectively. Zahn turned around and beat Fosdick in #3 singles 3-6, 6-3 and 6-2. Kamoi took down Riedel in #6 singles 9-7.
Annaleigh Collings and
Luiza Arroyo defeated Fuentes and Riedel in #3 doubles 8-6. Collings went on to defeat Koenig in #4 singles 6-1, 6-2. Arroyo dropped to Fuentes in #5 singles 2-8. With the win the Royals move to 2-4 overall and 2-4 in The Sun Conference.
The Royals men's team took #2 and # 3 doubles then took a clean 2-6 in singles play.
Felipe Resende and
Mathues Aquino fell in #1 doubles to Hasegawa and Bonderanko 6-8. Resende met Hasegawa in #1 singles and fell 5-7 and 3-6. Aquino took on Bonderanko in #2 singles and defeated him 6-4 and 4-1.
Vitor Figueiredo Wagner and
Bruno Carvalho faced off and took down Schneider and Bingenheimer in #2 doubles 8-5. Wagner competed in #4 singles and beat Schneider 7-5 and 6-4. Carvalho took on Bingenheimer in #5 singles and Carvalho came away with the win 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-1).
Julian Cuartas and
Renan Gambin took down Hall and Alexander in #3 doubles 8-3. Cuartas defeated Alexander in #3 singles 6-3 and 6-1. Gambin finished off the job in #6 singles taking down Hall 6-3 and 6-4. The Royals move to 2-4 on the year and 2-4 in The Sun Conference.
