The Streak Continues! Men’s Soccer Defeats Pensacola Christian College 4-2 To Extend Record

LAKE WALES, FLA – The Warner University men's soccer team continues to win at home and have once again broken the record for the best start in the programs history by starting 5-0. Today's game against the Pensacola Christian College Eagles was another display of powerful offense and saw many new faces for the Royals as the team walked away with a 4-2 win. Head Coach Drew Stacey unloaded his bench in the second half and allowed many players to get some quality game reps today, which will pay off as the season continues to roll on.

The Royals once again jumped out to an early lead when Captain James Feehan knocked in his first goal of the year off a cross from freshman Dawson Johnson in the 3rd minute of the match. The defense held the Eagles at bay the entire half only allowing 5 total shots and the Royals kept the ball on the Eagles side of the pitch for the majority of the half which did not allow the Eagles to ever establish an offensive rhythm. In the 28th minute freshman standout Matheus Santiago scored his 3rd goal of the season off an assist from Kenolson Collin. The team wasn't finished as Widler Monestime added another goal in the 33rd minute of the half, off an assist from Matheus Santiago, to extend the lead to 3-0.

The second half saw many players come off the bench to allow for game reps and give some of the starters some much needed rest in the Florida heat. In the 57th minute Captain Ralph Francois knocked in a header off a cross from Juan Gazzotti to push the lead to 4-0. The Eagles knocked in 2 goals of their own in the half as the offense came alive for them and they continued to press the ball on the Royals half. Late on the half the starters made their way back in to slow down the offensive attacks from the Eagles and hold onto the lead.

The Royals continue to look impressive at home and will have a week to rest and prepare for their next match which is next Saturday, September 8 against Point University at 7:00 PM at Royals field.
