LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Royals took to the road for their first away Sun Conference matchup in Miami Gardens this afternoon. The Lions hit just shy of 50% of their 3-point shots in the first half and it eventually led to the Royals coming home with an unfortunate 52-71 loss.
Historically, the Royals have fallen to the Lions eight straight times and have not left Miami Gardens with a win since 2014. The Royals fall to 1-6 overall record and still searching for their first Sun Conference win falling to 0-3.
Troi Grant provided a bright spot to the Royals lineup adding her second double-double of the season. Following a season and career high 21 points against St. Thomas, Grant put up 14 points and 10 rebounds while adding 4 steals and a block.
Alana St. Clair had 14 points and 4 rebounds.
D'Asia James continues her outstanding start to the season adding 12 points and missing a double-double by 2 rebounds finishing the game with 8.
As a team the Royals shot 34% from the field and struggled at the 3-point line hitting just 3 of 14 from beyond the arch.
