Warner Men’s Soccer – Royals To Open Season Against NAIA (RV) Mobile (Ala.)

LAKE WALES, Fla. – Warner Men's Soccer start off their 2019 season on the road in Alabama where they take on the NAIA (RV) Mobile Rams.

Hitting the history books, these two teams have met previously way back in 1992 where they played a home and away series. In 92', the Royals fell in both games to the Rams 16-0 and 10-0.

As for the Royals, they're coming off one of the best seasons they've had making a Sun Conference post season Tournament appearance, winning the NCCAA South Regional Championship game and advancing to the NCCAA National Tournament.

Looking to this coming season the Royals Head Coach Drew Stacey said, "I think the program has come to a point where we can maintain a consistency and start building on the last season." The Royals finished last season with a 12-7-1 overall record and 5-3-1 in The Sun Conference. The building coach Stacey talks about will need to come on the road. Warner finished 2-2-1 on opponents turf last season. The Royals were extremely comfortable at home as they plundered teams to the tune of 10-3 on Royals Field.

This season will be a test as they only host six home games and will hit the road 10 times during the season. Coach Stacey said, "We have a strong core of returning players that were impressive during the spring. The freshmen talent we've brought in keeps getting stronger and this year is no exception. We'll still be dangerous in front of the goal and I believe sturdier in the back field with the addition of a few new players."

Warner returns the second team All-Conference selection Daniel Rodriguez. Ralph Francois will take the field for his senior season after being selected last year to the second team All-Conference.

The Royals will feel the hit of losing James Feehan, a defensive wall that was selected first team All-Conference and the mid-field presence of Austin Steen.

Mossiah Griffith joins the Royals as a defensive threat that strengthens an already very tough Warner defensive front. Griffith is a junior transfer from Illinois Central College.

The Royals hit the pitch August 22 at 7:00 p.m. CST 8:00 p.m. EST taking on NAIA (RV) Mobile.
