Warner Men’s Soccer – Crooked Lake Rivalry Sniped From Royals Despite Strong Offense

BABSON PARK, Fla. – Warner University men's soccer fell short in the Crooked Lake rivalry to Webber International. The Warriors snapped a Royals winning streak that extended back to 2016.

The Warriors struck first in the 28th minute then wasted no time finding the net again in the 31st minute. The Royals got on the board in the 69th minute when Ethan Figgener took a free kick from about 45-yards out. Figgener placed the ball on the far right edge of the goal about 10 yards out and found Daniel Rodriguez who flipped a no look header into the upper right 90 for a goal.

The Royals had a strong offensive presence primarily in the second half of the game. Donovan Ingley fired a shot in the 74th minute that was blocked. Deven Ingley and Aser Jeune rifled off 2 more shots that were saved near the 83rd minute. Juan Gazzotti's shot in the 86th minute sailed high and Daniel Rodriguez had the final close call in the 88th minute with a close header missed just wide.

17 shots with 7 on goal was the final stat line for the Royals. The Warriors offense played tough with 19 shots and 10 of them on goal.
It was a hard fought game much like every Crooked Lake Rivalry, in the end the Warriors came away victors with a 2-1 final. This was the first game the Royals have lost to the Warriors since 2016 making this loss a little more bitter.

The Royals will shift focus and look to battle Florida College in Temple Terrace on September 20th.
