LAKE WALES, Fla. – In one of the few non-conference matchups for the Royals this season, Warner and Brewton Parker battled into double overtime.
The Royals struck first blood in the contest in the 11
th minute,
Dillon Giambrone broke loose and found the net with the assist coming from
Ethan Figgener. The goal was Giambrone's second of the season and Figgener's first assist of the year.
The Royals held the lead until the 53
rd minute when the Barons found pay dirt and evened things up at 1-1.
Eventually the game would head into the first then the second overtime. The Barons pushed the golden goal through in the 103
rd minute.
The stats seemed skewed for the Royals during the contest but a red card in the 27
th minute forced the team to play a man down for the remaining 76 minutes.
With the loss the Royals fall to 1-6 overall and have dropped four straight contests. Warner now enters the back end of the schedule with four out of the last seven games remaining to be played at home on the Royals field.
Next up, the Royals will travel down to West Palm Beach this Saturday to take on the Seahawks of Keiser University in a matchup of the Sun Conference. The two squads met early in the season in Lake Wales and it was the Seahawks that blanked the Royals 0-4. The history of the matchup tips in favor of the Seahawks as the Royals stand at 6-9-3 all-time against the foe.
