LAKELAND, Fla. – Warner fell to Southeastern this afternoon marking the 17
th straight loss to the Polk County rivals.
The series between the Royals and Fire has been one of streaks. The Fire won the first ever game played between the two back in November of 2006. The Royals then went on a 12-game win streak that was spread out over a six-year span. The Fire broke that streak in February of 2013 and have not registered a loss to the Royals since. They hold a 17-game winning streak spanning seven years.
The Royals fell to the Fire today 43-93. Facing a stout Fire defense, the Royals offense was held to a 25% shooting percentage for the game. The Fire forced the Royals to turn the ball over 28 times and impressively, 24 of those turnovers were Fire steals.
Isabella Lopez was the lone Royal to reach double-digits on the day finishing with 12 points shooting 5-5 free throws.
Dianis Hurtado added a 9-point effort hitting three shots from range.
Haley Gantt was held to just 6 points, however registered a stellar defensive effort with 3 blocks and 13 rebounds (12 defensive).
The Royals have two games remaining in the 2020 half of the season. Both games will be held at home in the Turner Athletic Center. Warner is tough to beat in the T.A.C. posting a 4-1 record so far. The two remaining games are the 22
nd against Florida National University and the 30
th against Webber International University.
