Warner Women’s Basketball – Seahawks Sore Past Royals In Tough TSC Matchup

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Seahawks from Keiser University completed their season sweep of the Warner Royals with a strong 59-47 win.

The game was much closer down the stretch than the score would lead you to believe, as it seemed the Royals were just one more basket away from completing the comeback and tying the game up late in the 4th quarter.

Warner came out strong in the 1st quarter, taking a 7-1 lead with 5 minutes remaining in the 1st quarter. D'Asia James got into some early foul trouble and was sidelined for most of the quarter.

The Seahawks battled back over the next five minutes and were able to end the 1st quarter with a 16-13 lead over the Royals.

The teams exchanged blows in the 2nd quarter but Keiser still held a lead against the Royals, 27-22, when the 1st half ended.

Troi Grant led the way for the Royals in the 1st half, scoring 8 points and grabbing 2 rebounds; while Alana St. Clair held things down for Warner in the paint, controlling the boards and went into halftime with a game-high 6 rebounds at the half.

The 3rd quarter was a competition to see who could make the most 3-point baskets as each team exchanged shots from beyond the perimeter.

Despite some thrilling play the Royals were outscored 20-10 in the 3rd quarter and trailed 47-32 entering the 4th and final quarter.

The Royals began to mount a comeback in the 4th quarter and even got the deficit down to only 6 points with more than 3 minutes left in the game. Unfortunately for the Royals, the Seahawks would not be denied the win, their 10th of the year, as they held on for the 59-47 win.

Troi Grant finished with a team high 16 points, and added 5 rebounds and 5 assists to her impressive stat line.

D'Asia James also scored in double digits, scoring 10 points and also added 5 rebounds.

Shelby Gard hustled all night on both sides of the ball, scoring 9 points, grabbing 5 rebounds and 1 assist.
