LAKE WALES, Fla. – Warner faced off at home in the postponement makeup game against Pensacola Christian.
Things were looking bright to start the game as the Royals netted their first season goal in the 18
th minute off the foot of
Francisco Cabrera and assisted by
Dillon Giambrone. Giambrone lofted a corner kick inside of the 18, Cabrera quickly gained control and rifled a shot in for a Royals 1-0 lead.
Six minutes later,
Dawson Johnson collected a loose ball right outside of the six, and drove a sharp line drive into the upper 90. The Royals took a 2-0 lead and the goal by Johnson was assisted by
Simiran Pnasier.
Unfortunately for the Royals, things took a turn and the Eagles took flight scoring 3 unanswered goals in the 31
st, 54
th and 87
th minutes.
Kevin Gonzalez got the nod in net for the Royals this morning. He faced 12 shots from the Eagles with 9 shots on goal and was able to stop 6 of them. Gonzalez falls to 0-1 on the season.
The Royals offense fired off 9 shots with 7 of them being taken in the first half. The Eagles defense stood strong and held the Royals to just 2 shots in the second half.
Warner falls to 0-2 on the season after dropping both home openers. However, they're right back at it tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. taking on the NCCAA rivals Trinity Baptist College Eagles.
