LAKELAND, Fla. – Warner took a lead into the half, but a late charge from the Fire left the Royals trailing by two.
The Royals were held by a stout Fire defense to just 5 shots in the game. One of the first shots found the net as
Nick Diaz dribbled in a one on one matchup past the goalie. Warner held the 1-0 lead until the 59
th minute when Skylay Funk tied things up for the Fire. Southeastern then scored two more unanswered goals by Lucas Nishioka (67
th) and Paulos Beraki (82
nd) to eventually take the game away from the Royals by a final score of 1-3.
The Royals will bring things back to the Royals Soccer field on Wednesday facing Florida Memorial.
