Warner Women’s Basketball – Royals Use Balanced Effort To Overcome Lengthy Conference Streak

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Royals took their first Sun Conference victory of the season over the Nighthawks this afternoon 50-8.
 
Warner used a balanced effort to take down Thomas this afternoon. It was a slow start to the first quarter but the Royals separated to a 25-20 lead at halftime. With five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter the Royals held their largest lead of the game at 14 points. The Nighthawks strung together a strong drive and cut the Royals lead to just 50-48. The Royals stopped the attack and took the first win in a Sun Conference game since the spring of 2018.
 
D'Asia James had a game high 12 points with 9 rebounds (8 defensive) and 4 steals. Dianis Hurtado reached double digits with a 10 point effort, 8 rebounds all 8 defensive, 2 assists and 2 steals. Shelby Gard nailed three shots from beyond the arc for 9 points and registered 2 assists. Carly Price shot 3-6 from the field finishing with 8 points.
 
The Royals never lost the lead in the game as they held strong for the win. They used a crafty 20 points off 17 forced turnovers to help gain the victory.
 
Warner has 11 TSC games remaining in their schedule and look to make a last half of the season charge. Next up is the College of Coastal Georgia Jan 19th at 5:30 in Lake Wales.
