Warner Women's Basketball Defeated By The Bobcats At Home

LAKE WALES, Fla - The Warner Women's basketball team hosted the Bobcats from St. Thomas University in a Sun Conference matchup.

The Royals hosted the Bobcats in the Turner Athletic center and looked to get back in the win column after dropping a game to the Gyrenes. The Royals got off to a slow start in the first quarter as they had trouble with turnovers leading to the Bobcats to jump to an eight point lead. In the second half Dianis Hurtado finished a tough layup in traffic for the and-1 to jumpstart the Royals offense. Kalyah Watson also started to get into a rhythm as she made a couple of threes to help the Royals even the game back up, and found herself as the team's leading scorer heading into the half, with both teams even at 32 points each. The Royals continued to be in a groove coming out of the half with Jasmine Edwards leading the scoring going 3-5, with seven points to give the Royals a three point lead and some momentum going into the final quarter of the game. The Bobcats' Brooke Bogatz caught fire in the fourth going 2-3 from behind the arc, and the Royals struggled with turning the ball over with a total of seven that led to St. Thomas going on a big run to close out the game. Dianis Hurtado led the Royals today registering a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Jasmine Edwards continues to be a double-double machine for the Royals as she finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds. The Royals dropped their second conference of the year and dropped to 7-9 on the year.
