SARASOTA, FL - In an intense SUN Conference basketball showdown, the Warner University Royals faced a tough defeat against the New College of Florida Banyans with a final score of 87-81 after a gripping double overtime session on January 18, 2025, at SCF.
The game started strong for the Royals as they took an early lead with key plays including free throws and a layup by
Kalyah Watson which helped the Royals secure a commanding 9-point lead in the first quarter.
Julia Gilbert and
Courtney Logan were pivotal throughout the game, scoring 26 and 22 points respectively. Gilbert's performance was particularly crucial in the overtime periods where her three-point shots kept the Royals in contention.
Despite leading at halftime with a score of 38-26, the Royals faced a renewed challenge from the Banyans in the second half.
