RECAP: Sherman Records Double-Double in Loss to Shawnee State (Ohio), 62 - 50 at Home

LAKE WALES, Fla. - Warner Women's Basketball ended their month of November with a non-conference match-up against a strong Shawnee State (Ohio) team, falling 62 - 50 to the Bears in the Turner Athletic Complex. The Royals started off strong leading the Bears at the end of the 1st quarter by a score of 16 to 11 with strong performances by Bethany Howard and Aleyna Sherman each tallying 6 points in the quarter. Early foul trouble in the 2nd Quarter hurt the Royals momentum, while the Bears took advantage scoring 27 points in the Quarter lead by SSU's (Ohio) Miyoshi Ellis. Ellis lead the team in scoring with 23 points in the game, 12 of which came in the second Quarter. The Royals entered the 2nd half down 38 to 24. Refusing to go down without a fight, the Royals won the 3rd quarter 12 to 7 cutting the Bears lead down to 9 entering the final quarter. Despite their best efforts the Royals were unable to retake the lead in a very back-and-forth 4th quarter, bringing the team's overall record to 2-5.

Sherman recorded her first double-double of the season, recording 10 points and a personal season high of 12 rebounds against the Bears. She also went on to get 4 assists and 2 steals in a very strong all-around performance from the Junior Guard.

Howard led the team scoring 17 points while shooting 50% (8-16) from the field and recorded 4 assists and 2 steals in today's effort. Her 4 assists and 8 made FG's were both new season high's for Howard.

As a team, the Royals shot 32.8% (19-58) from the floor and 27.8% (5-18) from beyond the 3-point arc. Warner also finished the game shooting 77.8% (7-9) from the free throw line.

The Royals have a lot to build on as the team looks to bounce back next week when they host the University of Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday, December 2nd.
