LAKE WALES, Fla. – Warner Women's Basketball opened the Warner Classic in dominant fashion on Wednesday afternoon, cruising to a 63–39 victory over Truett McConnell University inside the Turner Athletic Center. The Royals delivered a complete performance on both ends of the floor, highlighted by balanced scoring and stifling defense.
Anabelle Gogol led Warner with a breakout performance, scoring a new career-high 12 points on an efficient 5-of-7 shooting from the field while adding 2-of-3 from the free-throw line. Her energy off the bench helped spark the Royals early and set the tone for the afternoon.
On the glass, Carissa Marthy continued her strong play, pulling down 11 rebounds to control the paint and limit second-chance opportunities for the Bears.
The Royals shared the ball effectively throughout the contest, with Aleyna Sherman dishing out a team-high 4 assists, while Chanelle Harrison led the defensive effort with 3 steals, helping force turnovers and fuel Warner's transition game.
As a team, Warner shot an efficient 45.1% (23-51) from the field and an impressive 50% (4-8) from beyond the arc. The Royals also went 13-of-22 (59.1%) at the free-throw line, continuing to apply pressure offensively while maintaining defensive control.
Warner's defensive intensity held Truett McConnell to just 39 points, showcasing the Royals' depth and discipline as they opened tournament play.
