LAKE WALES, FL - In a challenging outing for the Warner University Royals at the Turner Athletic Center on February 5, 2025, the Women's Basketball team faced a tough defeat against the Keiser Seahawks with a final score of 69-49 in their SUN Conference meeting.
Despite a spirited performance by Warner's leading scorers
Bethany Howard with 14 points and
Julia Gilbert with 12 points, the Royals could not sustain the momentum against a formidable Keiser team. Keiser took an early lead and maintained their advantage throughout the game, ending the first period with a 20-14 lead and expanding it further to 69-49 by the final whistle. Gilbert also made her presence felt with 10 rebounds, marking her as a top performer in the game.
Warner's efforts included notable plays such as
Cameron Tripp's early three-pointer in the second period, which briefly narrowed Keiser's lead. Additionally,
Samaria Sims and
Cameron Tripp contributed significantly in setting up plays, leading with 4 and 3 assists respectively. Key highlights from the game included strategic plays and strong defenses, but Keiser's steady control of the game tempo and their successful scoring runs were too much for the Royals.
With this result, Warner's record falls to 6-15 for the season. Looking ahead, the Royals are set to face Ave Maria on February 8, 2025, in Ave Maria, FL.
