LAKE WALES, FL – Warner University Women's Lacrosse senior midfielder Bailey Lightsey has been named the 2025 SUN Conference Champion of Character, a prestigious honor that celebrates student-athletes who exemplify the very best of what it means to compete with integrity, serve others, and lead by example—both on and off the field.
The Champion of Character award is rooted in the NAIA's Five Core Values: Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership. Each year, one student-athlete from each SUN Conference institution is selected for their commitment to these values, showcasing a lifestyle of character and leadership that makes a lasting impact in their communities and on their campuses.
Lightsey, a senior from Lake Wales, FL, has been a cornerstone of the Royals' lacrosse program throughout her collegiate career—not only as a fierce competitor on the field, but as a servant-hearted leader in the Warner community.
"I am incredibly proud of Bailey for being awarded the Champions of Character Award for 2025, representing both the Sun Conference and Warner University," said Warner Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Corbett Day. "Bailey consistently embodies the core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership, not just on the field but also within the community. Her strong ties to the agricultural sector are evident through her active participation in the Polk County Cattlewomen's Organization, her role as a Lacrosse Advocate for FCA, and her service at events such as the Polk County Youth Fair, Strawberry Festival, What's Growing On Agri Fest, and Camp Roar. Additionally, as a former Polk County Cattlemen's Sweetheart, Bailey has excelled in representing God, family, friends, and the Women's Lacrosse program. Being part of this community and having the opportunity to serve through her passions—whether in agriculture, lacrosse, faith-based leadership, or youth outreach—has been a tremendous blessing and has positively influenced many lives. Thank you, Bailey, for your dedication to excellence and for advancing the kingdom of God in all your endeavors!"
This recognition highlights the holistic mission of the NAIA to not only produce champions on the scoreboard, but champions in life. As a Champion of Character, Bailey Lightsey is a shining example of what it means to be a Royal—someone who leads boldly, serves selflessly, and uplifts those around them through Christ-like character.
Warner University is incredibly proud of Bailey for this well-deserved honor and celebrates the legacy she leaves behind both on the field and in the lives she's touched.
