LAKE WALES, Fla. - The Royals are looking to continue their strong run of form after winning 2 of their last 3 SUN Conference matchups as they head down to Miami Gardens to take on Florida Memorial University this Wednesday.
Warner enters the matchup after splitting last week's highly competitive contests. First, the Royals defeated Crooked Lake Rival Webber International University last Wednesday, 54-53, off a contested 3-pointer by
Aleyna Sherman in the final seconds of the game. On Saturday, the Royals fell to the College of Coastal Georgia,72-67, in a fast-paced and back-and-forth game where Warner recorded their highest scoring game since their 73-63 win over Clinton College on December 6th. Saturday's high scoring affair was highlighted by
Cameron Tripp's career high 21 points, leading both the Royals and Mariners in scoring. The Royals are hoping to build upon last week's team and individual performances to chip away at the 2-game lead between them and the current 3-way tie for 6th place, the last spot to enter the Conference tournament.Â
The Lions will come into the game after splitting two games this last week. FMU won a non-conference matchup over Florida National University 70-67 on Wednesday and lost their only SUN Conference game, 72-56, when they traveled to Lakeland to face off with #25 Southeastern University. The Royals and Lions often see tightly contested matchups and this one is sure to continue that trend as the Royals look to split the season series after falling to FMU earlier this season.
The Royals are set to face-off with FMU on
Wednesday, January 28th with a scheduled tip-off time of
5:30pm.Â
