TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - The Warner Men's Soccer earned their 2nd win of the season in thrilling fashion on Wednesday night. After trailing by 2 goals at halftime, the Royals rallied to find the back of the net 3 times in the 2nd half to earn a 3-to-2 victory at Florida College.
Florida College jumped ahead during the opening 45 minutes, scoring 2 goals over 6 minutes of play after the Royals were able to keep them off the scoreboard through the first 29 minutes. Despite getting 2 shots off, Warner could not find the back of the net before the break and would enter halftime down 2-to-0.
Warner's answer came quickly out of halftime as the team rallied to tie the game during the opening 3 minutes of the 2nd half.
Xavier Lozada scored both of the Royals first 2 goals in the 46th and 48th minute and was assisted by
Christopher Zeppieri and
Wade Bishop respectively to level the game at 2 goals each. The Royals continued to put pressure on the Falcons defense recording all 5 of their shots on goal during the 2nd half. In the 68th minute the Royals broke the tie when
Euan Bunn scored what would be the game winner off an assist from
Jackson Davenport to put the Royals ahead 3-to-2. Warner continued to control the game over the final 22 minutes holding the Falcons to only 1 shot on goal to close out the 3-to-2 win on the road.
Warner's final stat line saw the team record 7 total shots, 5 on goal, no corners and 1 save. The Royals will look to build from their come from behind win as they shift their focus to SUN Conference play when they travel to New College of Florida on Saturday.
