MIAMI, Fla. - In the quarterfinal round of The Sun Conference Men's Soccer tournament, Warner University lost to Florida Memorial University 2-0 on Saturday night at Vizcaya Stadium. The seventh seeded Royals' 2014 season comes to an end with a 7-9-1 overall record. The second seeded Lions improve to 12-5 overall and advance to the tournament semifinals.
In their first meeting back on Sept. 27, the Lions were victorious over the Royals by a 2-0 score. In the rematch on Saturday night, the Royals fell behind in the 12
th minute on goal by Santiago Crosetti.
Warner's starting goalkeeper
Leo Viala faced five shots in the first half while Florida Memorial's Tobias Feuer did not face a shot.
In the second half, neither side had much success on offense with only five total shots in the period. The Lions outshot the Royals 3-2 and found the back of the net late in the 89
th minute to seal the victory 2-0.
Bruno da Silva recorded both of the Royals' shots in the second half.
Viala finished with three saves in the season finale as well.
