Royals Pick Up Fifth Win of the Season

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Warner men's soccer team stepped out of conference play on Saturday and welcomed College of the Bahamas to Royals Field and walked away victorious 2-0. The last time these two sides met was back on Sept. 11, 2009 in a 5-0 win for the Royals.

Prior to the game, the Royals honored three of their own in the first of a two-part senior day.  Camilo Diaz, Andres Franco and John Teeter were all honored for their contributions to the Warner University men's soccer program.  The nine remaining seniors will be honored at the Royals' regular season finale on Oct. 29 against Webber International University.

Bruno da Silva scored his eighth goal of the season in the 29th minute when he got on the end of a cross from Brian Martin. Nicolo Zini scored the second goal of the game for the Royals, his third of the season, in the second half thanks to a through ball from Anthony Lopez.

The Royals offense combined for 29 shots in the game. Zini led all players with six shots and placed four on frame. 14 players registered shots for the blue and yellow.

Freshman goalkeeper Jacob Murray earned his first win as a Royal between the posts. Murray went the full 90 minutes and made one save.

The Royals will finish up the 2014 regular season with three home Sun Conference matchups. First up, on Wednesday, Oct. 22 the Royals will host Southeastern University at 7 p.m. Then on Saturday, Oct. 25 the Gyrenes of Ave Maria will visit for a 3 p.m. kickoff.
