LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Warner women's soccer team rounded out their 2014 Sun Conference play on Sunday afternoon against the No. 2 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Lady Eagles. In their final home game of the regular season, the Lady Royals conceded five goals and will finish with a Sun Conference record of 3-6.
The visiting Lady Eagles came out running and never looked back, outshooting the Lady Royals 33-6 in the game. Five different players scored for Embry-Riddle, including Gudrun Johnson who earned her first goal of the season in the 83rd minute.
The Lady Royals offense was slowed by a solid Lady Eagles backline that held Jamie Murray and Elizabeth Lewis to just two shots a piece. The Embry-Riddle defense also refused to concede a corner kick through the 90 minutes.
The Lady Royals, who are now 6-7 on the season, will travel to Tampa, Fla. on Tuesday to take on NCAA-II University of Tampa. The two sides met last year on Sept. 5 in a 2-0 loss for the Lady Royals.
