Lady Royals Upended by No. 14 Seahawks

LAKE WALES, Fla. – After a double-overtime loss on Friday, the Warner women's soccer team fell 7-0 to Northwood University (Fla.) on Sunday afternoon at Royals Field. The Lady Royals now stand with a 4-4 overall record after the loss and are 1-3 in Sun Conference play. The visiting Lady Seahawks remain undefeated in conference play with a 4-0 mark and are ranked No. 14 in the NAIA Coaches Top-25 Poll.
 
Northwood got on the score sheet quick, scoring in just under two minutes into the match. The Lady Seahawks then scored their second and third goals within .28 seconds of each other. The Lady Royals went into the half trailing 4-0.
 
After the intermission, Northwood continued its offensive showing adding three more goals, including a penalty kick in the 81st minute. The Lady Royals were outshot 26-3 in the game, with the Lady Seahawks placing 16 shots on frame. Samantha Oliveira (2-3) made nine saves in her fourth start in goal for the Lady Royals.
 
The Lady Royals will look to bounce back on Friday, Oct. 10 when they host cross-town rival Webber International University in a Sun Conference contest. Kick-off for that match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
