MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - Warner University women's volleyball team lost 3-0 (22-25, 25-27, 15-25) to Embry-Riddle University in the semifinal round of The Sun Conference Tournament on Friday evening in the Fernandez Family Center on the campus of St. Thomas University. The third-seeded Lady Royals drop to 10-14 on the season with the defeat.
In a tough semifinal matchup, the Lady Royals led 19-16 late in the first set but a 9-3 run by the Eagles spoiled an early upset bid.
The second set saw 14 tie scores and six lead changes.
Adrienne Czaplewski gave the Lady Royals the first shot a set point with a service ace making the score 24-23. The Eagles, however, fought back and took a 2-0 lead behind a 27-25 win.
In the third set the Eagles never trailed ending the Lady Royals tournament run.
Czaplewski, a 2
nd Team All-Conference selection, led the team with 12 total kills and nine digs. Fellow All-Conference selection,
Marisa Moralobo was second on the team with 10 kills and 13 digs.
Heather Lockwood had 22 digs to lead the back row.
The Lady Royals now turn their attention to the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) South Regional. Warner University will host the tournament beginning next Friday, Nov. 21, in the Turner Athletic Center. The tournament field and schedule will be released on Monday, Nov. 17.
