LAKE WALES, Fla. - Warner University men's basketball team rolled past Clearwater Christian College 73-49 on Thursday night in the Turner Athletic Center. The Royals sweep the season series from the Cougars by a combined score of 174-93. The win keeps the Royals perfect in the 2014-15 season and improves their record to 9-0. The Cougars remain winless on the season and are now 0-7.
Warren Hall scored six of Warner's first eight points and the Royals led 10-3 four minutes into the non-conference contest. As a team the Royals shot 64% from the field in the first half while holding the Cougars to 16% shooting.Â
Antonio Ansley gave Warner their first double-digit lead, 15-5, at the 11:27 mark. The Royals outscored the Cougars 28-12 the rest of the half and led 43-17 at the break.
Hall led all players at the break with 14 points and was perfect from the floor at 5-for-5. Eddie Delegal and Antonio Ansley both had eight points.
The Royals' offense cooled to 44% shooting in the second half but maintained their advantage over the Cougars leading by as many as 33 points with 2:10 left in regulation.Â
Warren Hall led a nine-player scoring attack for the Royals and finished with a game-high 18 points. The sophomore was 6-of-8 from the field in just 21 minutes of action. Eddie Delegal scored 16 points and had three blocked shots in 17 minutes of action for the Royals. Antonio Ansley came off the bench and scored 13 points and was 3-of-6 from behind the arc.
The Royals begin Sun Conference play next Saturday afternoon, Dec. 13, in Lakeland, Fla. against cross-county rivals and No. 23 Southeastern University. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. in the Southeastern Sportsplex.
