No. 23 Royals Thump Lions Behind Strong Second Half 78-49

LAKE WALES, Fla. – Eleven players scored points and the Royals led by as many as 34 points in a 78-49 win for Warner University men's basketball team over Florida Memorial University on Wednesday night.  In dominating fashion, the23rd-ranked Royals rolled to their 12th win of the season (12-2) and are now 2-2 in The Sun Conference.  The Lions drop to 1-12 with the loss and are winless in league play (0-4).

The Lions won the opening tip and scored a basket on their first possession of the game to lead 2-0; it was their first and only lead of the game.  Warren Hall took a pass from Keevis Tukes and the Royals scored on their first possession to the game.  Following a steal by Eddie Delegal and foul by the Lions, Jamie Anderson gave the Royals the lead for good with a pair of free throws at the 18:30 mark of the first half.

From there, the Royals offense was a little slow to start but found themselves with a 10 point lead, 18-8, at the 10:50 mark of the first half.  The Lions hung around despite shooting 33.3% from the field and got to within one point, 18-17, thanks to a 9-0 run down to the 6:58 mark.  To end the half, the Royals responded with a 12-2 run of their own and took a 29-19 lead into halftime.

Hall and Delegal led the Royals' first half scorers with seven points apiece.

The Royals barely missed in the second half, shooting 62.5% from the field and 55.6% from behind the arc.  They were also a perfect 14-of-14 from the free throw line in the half.  The hot shooting gave the Royals their first 20-point lead of the game, 49-29, with 12:42 left in regulation.

Over the next three minutes the Royals' lead grew to 31 points, 63-32, after a 14-3 run.  Hall completed an old school three point play with 6:55 to go to give Warner their largest lead of the game, 70-36.  The rest of the way, the Lions could only get to within 25 points of the Royals.

Altogether, 11 players scored points for the Royals.  Hall and Delegal combined for 32 points in the win.  Hall finished with a game-high 17 points while Delegal had 15 points and six rebounds.  AJ Lamb scored a season-high 10 points off the bench.  He also hauled down a team-high seven rebounds.

Keevis Tukes had nine points and five rebounds.  Jamie Anderson and Bladimyr Santiago both finished with eight points.
