Men's Volleyball Off to 3-0 Start After Opening Home Stand


LAKE WALES, Fla. -For the third straight day, Warner University men's volleyball team won 3-0 this time defeating Bluefield College (Va.) in straight sets (25-18, 25-15, 25-16) on Saturday afternoon.  The Royals are now 3-0 on the season and wrap up their 2015 home schedule without dropping a set.

Joshua Jordan, Steven Vaughn and Dylan Sechrest got the Royals going in the first set with three kills each.  The Royals, as a team, posted a .290 hitting percentage and got 11 assists from Martin Krueger en route to the 25-18 win.

Sechrest continued his hot start with three kills on five attempts in the second set as the Royals went ahead 2-0 over the Rams with a 25-15 win.

After trailing early on in the third set, Jose Del Torro sparked a 4-0 run with three straight service aces to put the Royals in front 11-9.  The Rams fought back to tie the set at 15-15 but the Royals pulled away with a 9-0 run.  Freshman Manuel Panchame had four service aces during the run.

Altogether, 12 players recorded kills for the Royals.  Sechrest led the way with seven kills and a.267 hitting percentage.  Jose Morales made his season debut and picked up four kills.  Martin Krueger played sparingly in the match but added 20 assists to his opening week total (89). 

At the service line the Royals had a season-high 12 aces against the Rams.  Both Panchame and Del Torro finished with four.  Hui Ding also had two aces.  Ding led the back row as well with 10 digs in the match.

The Royals hit the road for the Grand View Molten Invitational on Jan. 29 in Des Moines, Iowa.  The Royals' tournament schedule features five games in three days against some of the top teams in the NAIA including defending NAIA National Champions Park University (Mo.) on Jan. 31.
