Seahawks Hold off Lady Royals in Conference Tilt 63-58

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.  - Warner University women's basketball team dropped their third straight game on Saturday afternoon in 63-58 loss on the road to Northwood University.  The Lady Royals are now 5-9 overall and 1-4 in The Sun Conference.  The Seahawks improve to 3-11 with the win and are 2-3 in league play.

The Lady Royals trailed by six, 36-30, at the end of the first half despite shooting 51.9% from the field in the first half.  Neither side led by more than five points early on as the two teams exchanged the lead three times in the first 10 minutes of the half.

Warner's Kashari James made a layup in the paint at the 5:50 mark to put the Lady Royals back in front 24-23.  Over the next four minutes, however, the Seahawks used an 11-1 run to jump out to a 10 point lead going into the final minute of the first half.

Baylie Bridges scored eight points in the first half to lead the Lady Royals.  Eliana Albert followed with seven points and was a perfect 3-for-3 from the field.

The Lady Royals had comeback on their minds in the second half but 27.6% shooting from the field kept the Seahawks out in front the entire half.  Montana Bass got Warner to within three points, 59-56, with 1:41 to go in the game but the Seahawks made 4-of-6 free throws in the final minute to hold off the Lady Royals.

Marie Fleurival led all scorers with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field.  She also hauled down nine rebounds and had three steals.  Baylie Bridges followed with 14 points and matched Fleurival with three steals.  Eliana Albert scored a season -high 11 points in the loss and had five rebounds.

I'munique Green tied Fleurival for the team lead with nine rebounds.  Overall, the Seahawks out-rebounded the Lady Royals 43-35.
