LAKE WALES, Fla. – 11 players scored points as Warner University men's basketball team rolled to a 93-45 season-opening victory over Trinity College on Friday night in the Turner Athletic Center. The No. 25 Royals were led by junior
Warren Hall who finished with 20 points and got a double-double from
Eddie Delegal as they open the 2015-16 season at 1-0.
It was all Royals from the opening tip as they ran out to a 9-2 lead. At the first media timeout the Royals' lead ballooned to 23-7 as the Royals shot over 60% from the field for much of the first half.
It was a 31-12 lead at the second media timeout for Warner and they carried a 56-22 lead into halftime. Honorable Mention All-American
Warren Hall picked up where he left off scoring 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting in the first half.
Eddie Delegal made the most of his 10 first half minutes scoring six points with six rebounds and four assists.
The Royals continued their dominance in the second half leading by as many as 56 points with 12:14 left in the game. The Royals got great bench play in the second half scoring 24 points.
Josh Ellis and newcomer Josh Barrett scored six points each in the half.
For the game the Royals held the Tigers to 33.3% shooting from the field and forced 23 turnovers. The Royals made the most of the bonus possessions scoring 23 points off turnovers.
Offensively, the Royals finished 47.3% shooters in the game connecting on 10 shots from behind the arc. Hall finished with 20 points in just 12 minutes of action. Delegal followed with a double-double scoring 10 points with 11 rebounds. Ellis and Barrett also reached double-digits. Ellis scored 10 points with seven rebounds and Barrett finished with 11 points and six rebounds.
The Royals return to hardwood on Tuesday, Nov. 3, as part of a men's and women's doubleheader with Florida College. The women play first at 5 p.m. and the men will follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game.
