Delegal's Big Night Leads Royals Past Suns 96-62

LAKE WALES, Fla. – Four players scored in double figures as Warner University men's basketball team rolled to a 96-62 victory over Johnson University on Monday evening in the Turner Athletic Center.  Eddie Delegal led the way with his third straight double-double scoring 26 points and grabbing 10 rebounds as the Royals improved to 5-1 overall.

The visiting Suns got off to a hot start in the first half as the Royals struggled to get going.  The Suns led by as many as five points in first half behind 42.9% shooting from the field.  Caleb Winfrey gave the Suns a 27-22 lead with 7:40 to go in the first half.

From there, the Royals scored six straight points to take the lead 28-27.  The run kick started the Warner offense and they closed the half on a tear outscoring the Suns 22-4 and led at halftime 44-31.

Delegal's big night started with 11 points and nine rebounds in the first half.  Antonio Ansley scored 13 points in the first half as well.

Six minutes into the second half, Delegal gave Warner their largest lead of the game, 66-44, with a fastbreak bucket.  The points capped off a 9-0 run in which Delegal scored all nine points.

Overall the Royals poured it on in the second half to tune of 56.8% shooting from the field.  Defensively, the Royals forced 12 turnovers and had 10 steals.

The Royals outscored the Suns 51-31 in the second half and cruised to the 96-62 victory.

Delegal was nearly perfect shooting the ball going 12-of-13 from the field.  His 26 points were a season-high and the junior now has four double-doubles in six games played this season.  Ansley finished with 15 points and three rebounds.

Lamar Smith played big minutes of the bench for the Royals scoring a season-high 12 points.  Josh Ellis also reached double-digits scoring 10 points with two blocked shots.

The Royals forced 19 Johnson turnovers and scored 32 points off the extra possessions.  The Royals also had their way around the rim scoring 48 points in the paint.

The Royals will return to action after the Thanksgiving break on Dec. 2 as they open Sun Conference play against Johnson & Wales University.  Tip-off for the Royals and Wildcats is set for 7:30 p.m. as part of a men's and women's doubleheader in the Turner Athletic Center.
