Lady Royals Bounce Back, Defeat Florida College 67-42


LAKE WALES, Fla. – Warner University women's basketball team improved to 2-1 on the season with a 67-42 victory over Florida College on Tuesday night in the Turner Athletic Center.  The Lady Royals got points from 11 different players en route to their first home victory of the season.

At the first media timeout of the game the Lady Royals held an 8-4 lead, thanks in part to a 6-0 run to open the game.  The Lady Royals had the advantage inside to start the game picking up 14 points in the paint in the first half.  At the end of the first quarter Warner led Florida College 14-8.

In the second quarter the Lady Royals shot 50% from the field and led by as many as 15. 

As a team, the Lady Royals outrebounded the Falcons 27-16 in the first half and led at halftime 33-18.  Kayla Guerrero led the first half scoring effort for the Lady Royals with seven points.  She also had six rebounds. 

In the second half the Lady Royals stretched their lead to as many as 27 points and were boosted by 20 points off the bench.  For the game the Lady Royals got 29 points off the bench.  The Lady Royals also had their way around the rim churning out 28 points.

Overall, 11 players finished with points for the Lady Royals.  Baylie Bridges and Corlisa Pope led the way with nine points each.  Sara Poehlman came off the bench and scored eight points.

The Lady Royals dominated the boards outrebounding the Falcons 56-44 in the game.  Every Lady Royal had at least one rebound in the game.  Pope led the way with nine rebounds and Kayla Guerrero had eight.

On Saturday, Nov. 7, the Lady Royals head back to Jacksonville, Fla. for the second time already this season for a 2 p.m. tip-off with Edward Waters College.
