Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – In their second road game of the season to northeast Florida, Warner University women's basketball team lost to Edward Waters College 58-52 on Saturday afternoon. The loss evens the Lady Royals record at 2-2 while the Tigers improve to 3-1 with the victory.
The Lady Royals held a five point lead at end the first half, 33-28, thanks in part to 53.8% shooting in the opening period. In the second half the Lady Royals stretched their lead to as many as nine points in the third quarter
The offense, however, cooled for the Lady Royals as they went 0-for-11 from behind the arc in the second half and the Tigers took advantage. At the end of the third quarter the Tigers held a 45-44 lead over the Lady Royals.
In the final quarter, the Tigers outscored the Lady Royals 13-8 to emerge victorious 58-52.
Mariah Williams led the way for Warner with 16 points. She was 7-for-10 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds.
I'munique Green also reached double-digits with 10 points in the game.
Porsche Shakes paced the offense with five assists to go along with six points.
The Lady Royals keep to the road on Monday, Nov. 9, as they head to Melbourne, Fla. for a showdown with NCAA-II Florida Tech. The exhibition matchup tips off at 7 p.m.
