Lady Royals Clinch Regular Season Conference Title

LAKE WALES, Fla. – In convincing fashion, Warner University women's volleyball team clinched the 2015 Sun Conference regular season title with a 3-0 sweep of St. Thomas University.  The Lady Royals finish the regular season with a 17-4 overall record and a perfect 12-0 mark in league play.  The win is also the Lady Royals' 14th straight going back to Sept. 4.  It's the first-ever conference title in program history for the Lady Royals under the direction of fourth-year head coach Chrissy Moskovits.

Needing a win to clinch the regular season title outright, the Lady Royals got off to a great start winning the first set 25-19.  Angie Pagan-Perez led the Lady Royals with five kills in the first set.  As a team the Lady Royals hit .281 and used a 9-2 run midway through the set to pull ahead.  Breeanna Navarro blocked Samantha Garza's attempt to end the set 25-19.

The Lady Royals dominated the second set never trailing in the 25-17 win.  Pagan-Perez and Adrienne Czaplewski had two kills each early on as the Lady Royals jumped out to a 10-4 lead and never looked back.

In the third set, Ivelisse Saint-Clair and Jenna Swaffer broke a 3-3 tie with huge double block.  The block was part of a 4-0 run that put the Lady Royals ahead for good as they went on to clinch the sweep and the conference title 25-21.

The Lady Royals got 38 kills from Czaplewski, Navarro and Pagan-Perez.  Czaplewski led all players with 15 kills and had nine digs.  Pagan-Perez followed with 13 kills and was perfect passing the ball in 15 attempts.  Navarro led all players with a .350 hitting percentage and finished with 10 kills.

Jenna Swaffer led the offense with 34 assists and had 11 digs as well.  Thalia Mendez led the Warner backline with 13 digs and was also perfect passing the ball in the game in 14 attempts.

The Lady Royals will now host The Sun Conference Final Four as the No. 1 seed next Friday and Saturday.  Tournament play begins on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. with the No. 2 seed vs. No. 3 seed.  The Lady Royals will take to the court at 7 p.m. against the fourth overall seed.
