KISSIMMEE, Fla. – On day two of the 2015 NCCAA Women's Soccer National Championship, Warner University lost 5-0 to Houghton College (N.Y.). The Lady Royals (8-10) are now 0-2 in pool play heading into a day off on Wednesday, Dec. 2.
The Highlanders got off to a fast start scoring twice in the first 10 minutes of the game. The Lady Royals trailed 3-0 at halftime after the Highlanders added another goal in the 30
th minute and were outshot 16-3.
Not much changed in the second half as Houghton scored two more goals in the 47
th and 58
th minute to extend their lead to 5-0. The Lady Royals got off four shots in the second half but faced 12 from the Highlanders.
Jamie Murray led the team with two shots.
Sarah Bergkvist faced 18 shots on goal by the Highlanders and made a season-high 13 saves.
After a day off on Wednesday, the Lady Royals return to the pitch for their final pool play game on Thursday, Dec. 3, against a familiar opponent. The Lady Royals will take on Columbia International University (S.C.) at 7:30 p.m. The Lady Royals and Rams met in the semifinals of the NCCAA South Region Tournament back on Nov. 20. The Lady
