Big First Half Carries No. 13 Royals Past Penn State Mont Alto


WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – In convincing fashion Warner University men's basketball team won their fourth straight game on day two of the Marietta Rappaport Holiday Classic hosted by Keiser University.  The No. 13 Royals defeated Penn State Mont Alto 91-62 on Wednesday night to improve to 10-2 on the season; the loss drops Penn State to 10-3.

The Royals got off to an incredible start scoring 53 points in the first half.  As a team the Royals shot 58.1% from the field and got 23 points from Warren Hall.  Defensively the Royals forced 13 first half turnovers and had 12 steals as the Lions were held to single digits until the 8:05 mark.  The Royals led 53-24 at the break.

Jamie Anderson gave the Royals a 31-point lead, 57-26, with a pair of free throws early in the second half.  From there the Royals led by as many as 45 in the second half en route to the 91-62 victory.  The Royals' defense, which ranks second in NAIA-II, forced 10 more turnovers in the second half and added seven more steals.  For the game the
Royals finished with a season-high 19 steals.  Nick Macon led all players with seven steals in the game.  Eddie Delegal also had six steals.

Hall and Delegal led the way for the Warner offense scoring 48 points combined.  Hall scored 26 points and had eight rebounds.  Delegal added 22 points and seven rebounds to go along with his six steals.  For their efforts, both were named to the All-Tournament team.

Antonio Ansley scored 11 points and Nick Macon scored nine points off the bench.

On Saturday, Jan. 2, the Royals return to the Turner Athletic Center for a huge match up with the University of Pikeville (Ky.).  The Bears are currently ranked No. 1 in the latest NAIA Division I Top 25 poll and come into Saturday's game with a 12-1 record.  Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
