LAKE WALES, Fla. – In their final game of 2015, Warner University women's basketball team lost at home to Union College (Ky.) 89-80 on Wednesday night. The loss drops the Lady Royals to 6-5 on the season and improves the Bulldogs' record to 8-5.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game. The Lady Royals shot 33.3% from the field in the opening quarter and got their first points of the game with 4:34 to go on a layup by
I'munique Green.
After trailing 22-16 after one quarter of play, the Lady Royals outscored the Bulldogs 16-15 in the second behind 5-of-12 shooting from the field. The Lady Royals battled back and got to within three points of the Bulldogs but went to the locker room trailing 37-32.
Both offenses picked up their scoring in the third quarter as both shot 40% or better from the field. The Lady Royals got 10 points from
Kaley Schmick in the quarter but still trailed 60-53 heading to the fourth and final quarter.
In the end, the Bulldogs' offense was too much for the Lady Royals to handle as they shot 62.1% from the field in the second half scoring 29 points to win 89-80. The Bulldogs made nine 3-pointers in the game and got 18 points off 14 Warner turnovers.
Three Lady Royals scored in double-digits led by Schmick with a season-high 23 points. She also had 10 rebounds to record her first double-double of the season as well.

Mariah Williams both finished with 15 points.
The Lady Royals will be back in action next Wednesday, Jan. 6, in Lakeland, Fla. as they resume Sun Conference play against Southeastern University. The Lady Royals and Fire will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. from the Sportsplex on the campus of Southeastern.
