Northwood Offense Too Much to Handle in 79-74 Loss for Royals

LAKE WALES, Fla. - In their first home game in two weeks, Warner University men's basketball team lost to Northwood University 79-74 on Tuesday night.  The Royals drop to 17-9 on the year with two games remaining in the regular season and are now 7-9 in The Sun Conference.  The Seahawks improve to 16-11 overall and 8-8 in league play.

It was a tough start for the Royals as they missed on their first eight shot attempts and were held scoreless until the 14:31 mark.  Warren Hall broke the drought with three of his 10 first half points in one shot and the Royals were on the board.  Nearly three minutes later the Royals came all the way back from a 5-0 hole and tied the game at 9-9.

The Royals shot 37.9% from the floor as a team in the first half compared to 52.6% shooting by Northwood.  However, at the break, the Royals only trailed on the scoreboard by three, 28-25.

The Seahawks' offense continued to click in the second half and led by 12 midway through the period, 53-41.  The Royals used 7-of-11 shooting from behind the arc in the second half to make up ground against the Seahawks.  Keevis Tukes got Warner within two points, 65-63, with a three pointer at the 4:20 mark.  In the end however, it was too much offense by Northwood as they shot 65.4% from the floor in the second half and held off the Royals for the 79-74 victory.

Warren Hall added 15 points to his first half total and led all scorers with 25 points.  He also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds to pick up the double-double.  Antonio Ansley was second on the team in scoring with 16 points against the Seahawks; Ansley was 7-of-9 from the field.  Keevis Tukes finished with 14 points and led the team with four assists.
Eddie Delegal chipped in 10 points and six rebounds as well.

On Thursday, Feb. 19, the Royals return to the hardwood in their second of three straight home games to end the regular season.  The Royals welcome in Johnson & Wales University for a 7 p.m. tip-off in the Turner Athletic Center.
