LAKE WALES, Fla. - In their final regular season game of the season, Warner University men's basketball team defeated Ave Maria University 70-57. The Royals rode a strong shooting game from behind the arc to pick up their 19
th win of the season (19-9) and improve their Sun Conference record to 9-9. The Gyrenes drop to 11-18 overall and 4-14 in league play with the loss.
The Royals led by seven at the break and were led by
Antonio Ansley's 12 points. Ansley came off the bench and connected on all four of his shots from behind the arc. As a team the Royals made eight, three pointers in the first half and led 35-28.
Warren Hall was in the mix as well with nine points on 3-of-5 shooting from deep.
The Gyrenes did their best to spoil senior day in the Turner Athletic Center with 64.7% shooting in the second half. The Gyrenes narrowed what was once a 21 point lead down to 10, 61-51, with 3:46 to go in the game. The Royals, however, rallied for seven straight points and the lead was back out to 17, 68-51, with 1:17 to go in the game.
Hunter Jump ended the Royals' scoring effort with a pair of free throws in the final minute and the Royals earned the 70-57 victory evening their conference record at 9-9.
Ansley's hot night ended with 19 points and 5-of-6 shooting from behind the arc all off the bench for the Royals.
Eddie Delegal followed with 12 points and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.
Warren Hall finished with 11 points and three assists.
Keevis Tukes finished with 10 points and five assists in his home finale. Fellow senior Brandon
Poore tallied five points, four rebounds and three assists to close out his career in the Turner Athletic Center.
