Royals Drop Third Straight to Cornerstone (Mich.) 11-6

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Royals baseball team dropped their third game in a row to the visiting Golden Eagles of Cornerstone University (Mich.) 11-6. The loss drops the Royals overall mark to 5-13, while the visitors improve to 3-5 on the 2015 season.

The Royals were down 3-0 after the top of the second and were never able to recover. Although, the home side combined for 12 hits, it wasn't enough to hold off the 17 hit performance from Cornerstone. Jeff Dally (0-1) took his first loss of the season after allowing three hits through one and two-thirds innings.

Heading into the bottom of the ninth, the Royals found themselves down 11-3. Zach Quillian cut the deficit to five after he sent a three-run shot over the right field wall. Quillian finished the game 3-for-5 with four RBIs.

Boderick Rodocker continued his strong offensive showing, going 4-for-6 at the dish for the Royals. Rodocker now leads the team with a .442 batting average. Tomas Rivera had the only other multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 at the plate.

The Royals will look to bounce back tomorrow, March 3, when the #12 Bellevue University Bruins come to Royals Field for a non-conference contest. First pitch is schedule for 3 p.m.
