Men's Volleyball Goes 2-1 at Coker College Tri-Match


HARTSVILLE, S.C. - In their final tune-up before the conference tournament, No. 8 Warner University men's volleyball team went 2-1 in games against Coker College (S.C.) and Bluefield College (S.C.) over the weekend. 

On Friday night, the Royals lost to the Cobras of Coker College 3-1 (25-19, 19-25, 24-26, 20-25).  Joshua Jordan led the team with 13 kills and Dylan Sechrest followed with 12 kills.  Sechrest led the team with a .308 hitting percentage.

Martin Krueger paced the offense with 35 assists and also racked up 13 digs.  Hui Ding totaled 15 digs in the loss as well.

On Saturday, the Royals got back to their winning ways with back to back 3-0 sweeps.  In their first match of the day the Royals defeated the Rams of Bluefield College 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-13).  As a team, the Royals combined for a .429 hitting percentage and got nine kills each from Sechrest and Jose Del Torro.

Jose Morales added eight kills as well.  Sechrest and Reggie Montalvo led the team with three service aces apiece.

In Saturday's second match, the Royals got revenge on Coker College winning 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-20).  Sechrest again led the Royals, this time with 11 kills and a .667 hitting percentage. 

Krueger added 28 assists to his weekend total and led the team with four service aces.  Devin Lofton totaled three blocks and had two kills at the net as well.

The Royals return home with a 15-8 overall record and will now get ready to enter the 2015 NAIA National Division Tournament April 10-12 in Merced, Calif.
