CLERMONT, Fla. – In their opening game of the 2015 Sun Conference Softball Tournament, Warner University lost to Embry-Riddle University 5-2 on Thursday morning.  The fifth seeded Lady Royals drop to 15-20-1 on the season while the fourth seeded Eagles improve to 24-18.

The Eagles broke through first with three runs in the second inning sending nine batters to the plate.  The lead grew to 4-0 in the fourth inning as the Eagles scored another run.

The Lady Royals were held to four hits through the first five innings but finally broke through in the sixth inning cutting the Eagles' lead in half, 4-2, with a pair of runs scored on a
Makenzie Garcia double; Jessica Adams and Kaitlyn Ficarrotta scored for Warner.

The Eagles answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning however, and the Lady Royals went quietly in the seventh ending the game 5-2 in favor of Embry-Riddle.

Chelsie Valentine (10-7) went the distance in game one of the tournament for the Lady Royals.  The Honorable Mention All-Conference selection scattered nine hits and five runs (four earned) over six innings.  She fanned four batters and walked two.
