Royals Swept by No. 19 Eagles in Conference Series Showdown

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – In Saturday's Sun Conference baseball series finale, No. 19 Embry-Riddle University swept both games of a doubleheader over Warner University.  The Eagles won game one 16-6 and game two 14-4.

The sweep drops the Royals overall record to 12-28-1 and their conference record to 4-15.  The Eagles are now 27-13 overall and 14-6 in league play.

In game one, the Royals scored three runs in the third and the fourth innings.  George Kirland drove home the first run for the Royals with a single through the right side.  Chase Coon brought home two more runs with a single of his own in the third inning.

Broderick Rodocker tripled in the fourth inning scoring Tomas Rivera and Randy Rodriguez

The Eagles, however, countered with 16 runs on 18 hits ending the game via run-rule in the seventh inning.

In game two, the Royals faced a similar result as the Eagles scored 14 runs on 14 hits ending the game via run-rule again in the seventh inning.

The Royals scored all of their runs in the third inning.  Dylan Gross drew a bases loaded walk to bring in the Royals' first run and later scored on an Eagles miscue.  Coon doubled home a pair of Warner runs with a shot down the left field line.

The Royals return home on Tuesday, April 7, to welcome Florida Southern College for a 4 p.m. start.  Next weekend, the Royals travel across Crooked Lake for their next Sun Conference series against Webber International University.  Friday's series opener will start at 6:30 p.m.
